Astronomer Joins Ranks of ASC NSF CAREER Award Winners
Adam Leroy, assistant professor, astronomy, is ASC’s latest NSF CAREER Award recipient. His five-year grant of $582,635 allows Leroy and his graduate students to use latest-generation radio telescopes to study how stars are born in galaxies. Taking pictures of interstellar clouds of gas and dust about to give birth to new stars in the nearest galaxies and carefully analyzing these new data, they can see how these clouds, stellar nurseries, form and what makes a galaxy good or bad at forming stars.
