Dr. Heyang Long, a 2024 Ph.D. alumna of the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP), made a generous personal gift to CCAPP, which was 1:1 employer matched by her employer.  This gift was made in August 2026 and is intended to be used during the Ohio State University 2026–2027 fiscal year.

This gift is intended to encourage and support greater use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools by CCAPP graduate students and postdocs (including research scientists), accelerating their research and career development. A central goal is to help as many people as possible.

CCAPP is grateful to Dr. Long for her generous and visionary support. This gift meets a critical need, and we are eager to develop this program. In addition to administering the financial and technical aspects, we will work individually and collectively with our students and postdocs to reduce potential barriers to greater AI use. We anticipate that they will use AI tools in a variety of ways, including literature review and brainstorming, software development and debugging, data analysis and visualization, and scientific editing.
