Solstice Outreach
CCAPP is an important partner for Solstice Outreach, which brings science education and entertainment to communities around Ohio through real-time, interactive portable planetarium shows.
Solstice was originally founded through The Ohio State University President's Buckeye Accelerator program, where the founders won $50,000 that enabled the purchase of our first portable planetarium system. Prof. John Beacom was the faculty advisor for the team, which was led by Caitlin O'Brien (Physics and Astronomy ’23). Read more about the founding of Solstice Outreach.
Today, Solstice Outreach partners with Ohio State’s Departments of Astronomy and Physics to provide well over one-hundred planetarium shows each year, reaching thousands of people across Ohio. These programs give undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdocs opportunities to share their enthusiasm for astronomy and space science with audiences of all ages through planetarium presenting.
