A new study led by Ohio State researchers reveals how young, massive stars play a critical role in shaping galaxy evolution. By analyzing thousands of star-forming regions, the team found that energy from newly formed stars can drive the expansion—or suppression—of these regions depending on their environment. Observations of both typical galaxies and extreme systems show that stellar feedback strongly influences star formation, galactic structure, and chemical evolution, providing new benchmarks for understanding how galaxies grow and change over time.
