New DESI results strengthen hints that dark energy may evolve

Claire Lamman/DESI collaboration and phys.org
These measurements provide much the strongest evidence to date that the "dark energy" that drives the accelerating expansion of the universe is itself evolving in time, with surprising properties. The result is still not definitive, but it's strong enough to be taken quite seriously. DESI is an international collaboration of nearly 1000 scientists from 70 institutions, led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Within this large collaboration, scientists from OSU have played multiple large and critical roles.
