A close-up look at the whirlpool around gigantic black hole
A new study involving Bradley Peterson, professor emeritus of astronomy, provides the most detailed view yet of the gas clouds swirling around a black hole at the center of a distant quasar. The research, published in Nature on Nov. 29, is a huge step in imaging technology and provides the first independent cross-check of a method that Peterson himself pioneered.
