Astro2020 Decadal Survey recommendations point towards strengthening the multi-messenger follow-up strategies through an improvement and development of new instruments, indicating this field’s crucial role in the coming years. In this talk, I offer an overview of three different topics that are—or will—be facilitated through multimessenger observations: i) an exploration of the physics beyond the Standard Model: axion-like particles & gamma-ray bursts with Fermi, ii) offline, subthreshold searches for gravitational-wave counterparts with Swift, and iii) cross-correlation studies between astrophysical neutrinos and the gamma-ray sky. Although we report no coincident detections to date in these three projects, I will share our results regarding upper-limits on various properties in these systems, as well as provide an overview of our expectations for the future observing runs. New Physics through a Multimessenger Lens: an Exploration of the High-energy Universe

Recent coincident detections of electromagnetic radiation and gravitational waves (GW/GRB 170817) or neutrinos (TXS 0506+056) reignited interest in using multiple messengers to study various astrophysical systems. Astro2020 Decadal Survey recommendations point towards strengthening the multi-messenger follow-up strategies through an improvement and development of new instruments, indicating this field’s crucial role in the coming years. In this talk, I offer an overview of three different topics that are—or will—be facilitated through multimessenger observations:
i) an exploration of the physics beyond the Standard Model: axion-like particles & gamma-ray bursts with Fermi,
ii) offline, subthreshold searches for gravitational-wave counterparts with Swift, and
iii) cross-correlation studies between astrophysical neutrinos and the gamma-ray sky.
Although we report no coincident detections to date in these three projects, I will share our results regarding upper-limits on various properties in these systems, as well as provide an overview of our expectations for the future observing runs.
