News from the Very-High-Energy Gamma-Ray Sky
Gamma-ray observations in the very-high-energy range (VHE, E > 100 GeV) probe astrophysical environments where particles are accelerated to extreme energies. These observations can therefore provide unique insights into the physics of VHE sources and address pressing questions in astrophysics such as the origin of cosmic rays and the nature of multi messenger emitters. In this talk I will present recent highlights from observations by imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes and water Cherenkov detector arrays and discuss opportunities that will be enabled by future facilities such as the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) and the Southern Wide-field Gamma-ray Observatory (SWGO).
