CCAPP Seminar: Erez Michaely (UCLA)
Speaker: Erez Michaely (UCLA)
Collisional dynamics in the field: Ultra-wide systems as sources for binary exotica (GWsources, sGRBs, Type Ia SN, X-ray source ...)
The field of galaxies is widely regarded as a collisionless system. However, this is not the case for ultra-wide systems (binaries and triples). In this talk I will present a dynamical scenario in which ultra-wide systems are perturbed by random stellar encounters and as a result are driving to sufficiently high eccentricities and evolve toa variety of binary exotica.
