DES will survey 5000 square degrees in five photometric bands (grizy). I will discuss preliminary results from the first year of observations covering about 1700 sq. deg. to partial depth. We have produced two complementary shape catalogs, the largest galaxy weak lensing catalogs ever produced, which include a contiguous region of 1300 sq. deg that is used for cosmological constraints. The larger of these catalogs contains secure shapes for nearly 35 million galaxies. I will summarize the current state of weak lensing science using these ground-breaking shape catalogs, focusing on blinded cosmological constraints from measurements in four tomographic bins of the cosmic shear correlation function for LCDM and wCDM models with varying neutrino mass fraction.
