Computing in High-Energy AstroParticle Research (CHEAPR2016)

  • The Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is hosting the CHEAPR 2016 workshop in Columbus, Ohio.
    This workshop is centered on sharing knowledge between individuals with a range of experiences in high-performance computing (HPC), analytics, and data analysis, with a specific focus on hands-on practice in data feature selection and genetic programming.
    The workshop will include tutorials, lectures, and example code packages meant to educate users on evolutionary algorithms, feature set extraction and selection, and parallel processing in multi-core environments. There will also be an introduction to the Ohio Supercomputing Center (OSC) and XSEDE resources.

2nd Catolica-OSU Astrophysics Workshop

In partnership with CCAPP, the Astronomy Department is hosting a three day workshop, held May 9-11, 2016 in Santiago, Chile on Catolica's campus. This workshop will send OSU researchers to Chile to meet with members from the Institute of Astrophysics of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.
The main goal of the workshop is that all the collaborators meet again and continue to learn about each other's scientific interests and expertise, brainstorm about ways to build on each other's strengths and institutional partnership.

GRB Temporal Analysis Workshop

The Center for Cosmology and Astro-Particle Physics (CCAPP) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is hosting a meeting of the BOSS (Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, part of SDSS-III) Lyman-alpha Forest working group, March 26 to March 28, 2009. This meeting will plan work needed to achieve the BOSS goal of measuring the size and expansion rate of the high-redshift universe to 1.5% precision from measurements of the Lyman-alpha forest along 160,000 quasar sightlines.
The organizers are Rupert Croft, Mat Pieri, and David Weinberg, and local attendees are welcome.

The Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP) will host the 8th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop (GLCW8) over the weekend of May 31-June 3, 2007 in beautiful Columbus, Ohio. As is tradition, the Workshop provides a forum for advanced graduate students, postdocs, and young faculty from the Great Lakes region working on all areas of cosmology and particle-astrophysics. More senior faculty will provide useful overviews. The general structure of the workshop includes a registration/reception the evening of May 31 followed by 2.5 days of workshops (5 half-day sessions), ending at lunchtime on Sunday June 3. There will be a GLCW8 BBQ on Saturday evening, June 2. GLCW8 registration, accommodations, and other relevant details can be found here.
